Minyades is an in-depth exploration of the works and concepts behind the eponyomous 2021 exhibition. Essays by the Jill Silverman van Coenegrachts and Benoît Antille accompany images of the exhibition and individual paintings. The catalogue also delves into the story of the Minyades, as told in Ovid's Metamorphoses

"We are all of us sitting in these dark canvases trying to make sense again of a world we don't recognize because it has changed, we have changed..."

- Jill Silverman van Coenegrachts

"Höglund’s work and life can be described as an
‘initiation’—on the model of ancient initiation
myths and rites—in the sense that the quest for
knowledge needs to be embodied. It is a transformative
process resulting from action. Of course,
such a comparison might seem ridiculously
stereotypical—a cheap reference to the idea of
‘life as art,’ or to the artists’ quest for their own
‘Truth’. Höglund, however, has effectively made
of his way of living—through his travels particularly—
an engine for his practice: over the last
twenty years, the artist went from Prague to the
Loire Valley (where he lives and works), passing
by Sion and Sierre in the Swiss Alps, Strasbourg,
Berlin, Iceland, Lisbon, Brussels, Miami, Los
Angeles, the island of Naxos in Greece, Paris,
London, et al. More than to a Grand Tour one
shall compare this journey to the wandering of
humanists-alchemists during the Renaissance,
as depicted in Marguerite Yourcenar’s L’OEuvre
au noir [The Abyss]. This journey, indeed, is not
that of an aristocrat completing his education,
but more that of an apprentice-artisan, a practitioner,
building his worldview through learning
in the field."

— Benoît Antille
